How many porta potties does a downtown Superior festival need?

A downtown Superior festival with 300 guests for 4 to 8 hours needs about 7 standard units. Add 1 unit for every 4 if alcohol is served. Add 1 hand-wash station for every 4 units when food vendors are on site, and include at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit.

Superior's Victorian festival and summer events bring crowds downtown. Street events need units set where the truck can stop and back out safely. Pick a lot or side street close to the crowd.

Festival committees should share a simple map of the streets or lots they plan to use. That lets us plan how many trucks and where each one stops.

Group units into clusters so guests can find them. In each cluster, at least 5% of units, and no fewer than 1, should be accessible. That is the ADA standard for portable units.

• Units arrive Thursday or Friday and leave Monday.
• Multi-day festivals get daily or every-other-day service.
• Ask the city about street or park permits.
