What does a restroom trailer need, water and electric?

A restroom trailer needs a standard 120-volt outlet, 15 or 20 amp, within 100 feet. The trailer also needs a garden-hose water connection. A regular outdoor faucet works. No special adapter is needed. If the site has no power or water, add our water tank and generator.

The outlet runs the lights, the climate fan and the water pump. Put the outlet on a circuit that is not shared with a big cooler or a bounce house.

Tell us where the faucet and outlet are when you book. If either one is too far away, the tank and generator add-on solves the gap.

How much room does a bathroom trailer take?

A bathroom trailer needs a level spot about 8 feet wide and 18 feet long. The truck also needs a clear path to back the trailer in. Low branches, tight turns, soft lawns and septic fields can block the trailer. Plan the 8 by 18 foot spot before you book.

Level ground matters. A tilted trailer drains poorly and the doors may not shut right. Pavement, packed gravel or firm, dry grass works best.

  • Walk the path from the road to the spot.
  • Check for overhead wires and branches.
  • After heavy rain, have a backup spot on gravel.

How does a restroom trailer compare to porta potties?

A restroom trailer gives 2 private stalls with porcelain flush toilets, sinks and lights. Porta potties give single units with no power needs. A trailer starts at $1,250 per weekend. A deluxe flushing unit starts at $325 and a standard unit at $175. The table shows the trade-offs.

Because trailer stalls sit up off the ground, add a wheelchair-accessible porta potty for guests who use wheelchairs. A lower-cost upgrade is a deluxe flushing porta potty with a sink.

Is a restroom trailer worth it for a wedding?

A restroom trailer suits a wedding of 100 guests or more when power and water sit close to a level spot. Guests get lights, sinks and a door that locks. For 4 hours, a 2-stall trailer is a strong main restroom. Longer receptions may need a deluxe unit as backup.

Planning charts use about 1 unit per 50 guests for 4 hours. Count each stall as 1 unit. Our porta potty sizing guide shows counts by guests and hours. The wedding restroom rental page compares full setups.

When is a restroom trailer the wrong choice?

A restroom trailer is the wrong choice when no outlet sits within 100 feet, when no level 8 by 18 foot spot exists, or when the truck cannot reach the site. Rough farm ground, wet lawns and narrow drives rule a trailer out. Porta potties fit those sites better.

Hard freezes from about November through March can also freeze hose lines, so ask before you book a winter date. A trailer costs much more than a few porta potties, so for a casual cookout, standard units and a hand-wash station make more sense.

Wind is another factor on open ground. A trailer parked in a field still needs the same level spot and outlet as one in a yard.

See every fee, including the tank and generator add-on, in the porta potty rental cost guide.

Tech specs

These 9 specs describe the restroom trailers we set up. Most renters only need three of them: the footprint, the access width and what the unit needs to run. The rest help when a venue or site manager asks for details.

Restroom trailers questions

How much is a bathroom trailer for a weekend?

Our 2-stall restroom trailer starts at $1,250 per weekend. The water tank and generator add-on, trip fee and tax show up as separate lines on your quote.

Is a garden hose enough to hook up the trailer?

A standard garden-hose connection from an outdoor faucet is all the trailer needs for water. Power comes from a regular 120V outlet within 100 feet.

Can you bring a generator and water tank if there's no hookup?

Our water tank and generator add-on runs the trailer where there is no outlet or faucet. We quote the add-on before you book.

What's the smallest restroom trailer you offer?

Our restroom trailer has 2 stalls. For a smaller need, a deluxe flushing porta potty with a sink starts at $325 per event weekend and needs no hookups.

Can I rent a restroom trailer during a bathroom remodel?

A trailer can work for a remodel if you have a level 8 by 18 foot spot, an outlet and a hose. Call for a quote on longer rentals and service.

Can the trailer park on my lawn?

A firm, dry, level lawn can work. The truck cannot cross soft lawns after rain or septic fields, so pick a spot near the drive.
