Porta Potties or a Restroom Trailer for Your Nebraska Wedding?
A Nebraska wedding can use standard porta potties with a hand-wash station, deluxe flushing units with sinks or a 2-stall restroom trailer. Pick by guest count, how long the party runs and if the venue has a 120V outlet and a garden hose.

What are the restroom options for an outdoor wedding?
An outdoor wedding has 3 main restroom setups. Standard porta potties paired with a hand-wash station cost the least, and deluxe flushing units add a sink and mirror with no hookups. A 2-stall restroom trailer has porcelain toilets and lights but needs power and water.
| Setup | Inside | Needs power or water? | Spot needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard + hand-wash station | Seat, urinal, sanitizer; separate 2-sink station | No | About 4 x 4 ft per unit |
| Deluxe flushing unit | Foot-pump flush, sink, soap, towels, mirror | No | About 4 x 4 ft per unit |
| 2-stall restroom trailer | Flushing porcelain toilets, sinks, lights, fan | 120V outlet and hose, or our tank and generator | About 8 x 18 ft, level |
How many restrooms does a wedding need?
For a wedding of 150 guests lasting 4 to 8 hours, the planning chart lists 4 standard units. Add 1 unit for every 4 units when alcohol is served. Add 1 hand-wash station for every 4 units when food is served, and make at least 1 unit wheelchair-accessible.
| Guests | Up to 4 hours | 4 to 8 hours | 8+ hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| 150 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| 200 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| 250 | 5 | 6 | 8 |
| 300 | 6 | 7 | 9 |
Example: 150 guests, a 6-hour reception and an open bar. That is 4 units plus 1 for alcohol, so 5 units, and 2 hand-wash stations for dinner.
Make 1 of those 5 a wheelchair-accessible unit. Our porta potty calculator page has the full chart up to 500 guests.
What does a restroom trailer need at the venue?
A 2-stall restroom trailer needs a standard 120V outlet on a 15 or 20 amp circuit within 100 feet, plus a garden-hose water connection. The trailer also needs a level spot about 8 feet by 18 feet and room for the truck to back in.
Barn and farm venues often have power at the barn but no spigot nearby. If either one is missing, we can add our water tank and generator.
Look at the path to the spot, too. Soft pasture after rain can stop a truck towing a trailer.
When are deluxe flushing units the better pick?
Deluxe flushing units fit weddings that want a sink inside each unit but have no power or water. Each deluxe unit holds about 20 gallons of fresh water for its foot-pump flush and sink. Deluxe units need only a firm spot about 4 feet by 4 feet.
Guests get a flushing toilet, soap, paper towels and a mirror. That covers most of what people like about a trailer.
Deluxe units also spread out better. You can place one near the dance floor and one near the parking area.
When do standard porta potties make sense for a wedding?
Standard porta potties make sense for a casual or budget wedding, or to add capacity next to a trailer. Pair standard units with 1 hand-wash station for every 4 units. Guests get soap and water, and the units stay simple and quick to use.
Many couples mix setups. A trailer or deluxe units serve the guests near the tent, and standard units handle overflow by the parking.
Keep the units clean-looking by placing them in a row on level ground, with the doors facing away from the ceremony.
Do I need a wheelchair-accessible restroom at my wedding?
Where portable units are grouped together, the 2010 ADA Standards call for at least 5 percent of each cluster, and no fewer than 1, to be accessible. A wheelchair-accessible unit has a ground-level floor, grab bars and a 60-inch turning space.
Read the standards at the U.S. Access Board, and confirm any local rules with your venue. This is not legal advice.
Add a wheelchair-accessible porta potty near the trailer so every guest has a ground-level option.
When should I book wedding restrooms?
For a Saturday wedding from May through September, book at least 1 week ahead, and earlier for a restroom trailer or several deluxe units. Units drop off Thursday or Friday, which covers a Friday rehearsal, and pick up Monday at no extra charge. You can cancel free up to 48 hours before delivery.
Open farm venues catch a lot of wind. We stake or strap units on open ground at no charge.
Our wedding porta potty rental page walks through setups for tents, barns and backyards.

Quick answers
Can a restroom trailer run on a long extension cord?
The trailer needs a standard 120V outlet on a 15 or 20 amp circuit within 100 feet. If the nearest outlet is farther than that, ask about our generator.
How do deluxe units have a sink without a water hookup?
Each deluxe unit carries about 20 gallons of fresh water in its own tank. A foot pump runs the sink and the flush, so no hose or power is needed.
Can wedding restrooms arrive before the rehearsal?
Weekend units drop off Thursday or Friday, so they are in place for a Friday rehearsal. Ask for Thursday when you book if the rehearsal is early Friday.
Should the bride's party have a separate restroom?
Some couples set aside 1 deluxe unit near the getting-ready area for the wedding party. Mark that spot separately so the driver places it away from the guest row.
