What do I need before I call for a porta potty?

Have 10 things ready before you call for a porta potty: the address or GPS pin, dates, headcount, hours, alcohol, food, ground surface, gate width, who meets the driver and a payment card. Those 10 details give you an exact, itemized quote.

  1. Address, ZIP code or GPS pin
  2. Drop-off and pickup dates
  3. Headcount or crew size
  4. Event hours or work shifts
  5. Will alcohol be served?
  6. Will food be served?
  7. Ground surface at the spot
  8. Gate width, if the unit goes through one
  9. Who meets or texts with the driver
  10. A credit or debit card

Why does the address or ZIP code matter?

The address or ZIP code sets the trip fee and the delivery day. Hastings and towns within about 40 miles can get same-day delivery if you call by 12 noon. Towns 40 to 80 miles out usually get next-day delivery.

Farm ground and new lots often have no street address. A GPS pin or plain directions from the nearest road work fine.

Not sure if you are in range? Check our service areas list of towns and counties.

If you have two spots across the road from each other, give both. Each drop-off spot is planned on its own.

What dates and hours should I share?

Share the date you need the unit in place, the date you are done and the hours people will use it. A Saturday party drops off Thursday or Friday and picks up Monday. Hours matter because a 4-hour party and an 8-hour party need different unit counts.

For construction, give a start date and a rough end date. Long-term rentals run in 28-day cycles until you ask for pickup.

For a festival or fair that runs several days, share each day and the daily hours. Those events get a quote for daily or every-other-day service.

If the date is not set yet, you can still get a quote. Book once you know, about 1 week ahead for summer Saturdays.

Why do headcount, alcohol and food matter?

Headcount, alcohol and food set how many units you need. The planning chart starts at about 1 standard unit per 50 guests for 4 hours. Alcohol adds 1 unit for every 4, and food adds 1 hand-wash station for every 4 units.

For a job site, give the crew size. OSHA sets the minimum at 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers.

Use our how many porta potties guide to check your number before you call.

What should I know about the ground and the gate?

The spot needs firm, fairly level ground about 4 feet by 4 feet, within about 10 feet of where the truck can stop. If the unit goes through a gate, measure the opening. A standard unit is about 43.5 inches wide, so 48 inches is the practical minimum.

Tell us if the spot is concrete, gravel, grass or dirt. Also mention slopes, septic fields and low wires.

Our porta potty placement guide covers wind, lawns and truck access in more detail.

Who should meet the driver?

Nobody has to stand in the yard all day, since deliveries run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no exact arrival time. Mark the spot with a cone, flag, stake or note. Then give the phone number of 1 person who can answer the driver's text or call.

Pick the person who knows the site best. On a job site, that might be the foreman instead of the owner.

If a gate needs unlocking or a dog needs to stay inside, put that in the notes.

For a job site, also tell us where the crew parks. The truck comes back every week, so the path needs to stay open after the first drop.

How do I pay for a porta potty rental?

Porta potty rentals are paid by credit or debit card, with the invoice sent by text or email and no cash on the truck. Contractors can ask for a business account with invoicing. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before delivery.

Your quote is free and itemized. It lists the unit price, rental period, servicing, trip fee, any rush fee and tax, and that total is what you pay.

See the porta potty rental cost guide for starting prices. When your list is ready, call (402) 313-8043, Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Quick answers

Can I get a porta potty quote without an address?

A ZIP code or town name gives a close estimate. The exact trip fee depends on the drop-off spot, so the final quote needs an address or GPS pin.

Can someone else pay for the rental?

Another person can pay with their own card. The invoice can be texted or emailed to whoever is paying, so share their number or email when you book.

Can I give directions instead of a street address?

Plain directions or a GPS pin work well for farm ground and new lots. Name the nearest road and a landmark, then mark the spot with a flag.

What if my headcount changes after I book?

Call or text with the new count, and we will update the quote. Changes are easiest more than 48 hours before delivery, while cancellation is still free.
